A gem. After a long week working, my love and I like to relax. On Friday, we will usually make our way to down to El Tiempo on Navigation. The perfect place to enjoy a margarita or a Modelo over some fajitas.

For those that may be less educated on the Houston food scene or are. Is it for from out of town, a point of clarity.

Ninfa's on Navigation tends to get a lot of attention from the celebrity crowd. And yeah, it's ok.

What they fail to recognize is that Ninfa's was sold to a corporation years ago. El Tiempo came about when the Lorenzo's, Ninfa's family became disenchanted with the degradation of the quality of the food and service that was being provided. Thus - El Tiempo was born. The original recipes are the same as what Ninfa used to make are alive and well at El Tiempo.

Having been to both, I can't knock Ninfa's on Navigation, but if you want the real deal, for to El Tiempo on Navigation. You won't be disappointed.

I've always enjoyed the food at El Tiempo. This occasion was no different. We had a group of 20 people and the wait time was great. Originally we had a 20 minute wait but we were seated within 10 minutes.
Our waiter was great and catered to us promptly. We never had to ask for refills or for plates to be removed.
The food was hot and fresh. One thing I was surprised at was the avacado dip. It was brought to us on a platter with the tomatoes, onions and garlic on the side. You could either mix them together yourself or on the plate. In my mind, that's great because I don't like onions in my avacado.
It was a last minute gathering after a funeral and the staff at El Tiempo were great. I almost had to question if they played the Spanish song"Yo te extranare" just for us.
Prices are reasonable. A seat for one with cheese enchiladas and a tea, I paid about 23.00 with gratuity.

Meet some friends here and am glad we did. I originally ordered a margarita but didn't care for it so the bartender offered me something else.
The chips are AMAZING. They are thin and crispy with just enough salt and the dip.... YUMMY!!!
I don't remember what the name was of what I ordered but it was a seasoned steak and I added the cheese and jalapeños. It had yummy onions and garlic. They brought tortillas but honestly I did not eat them.
I didn't taste the dessert but I heard it was awesome!

This location is central located, which is convenient for my family, which is spread across Houston. The service varies from top notch to sub par, depending on the day, but the food and drinks stay consistently delicious. Definitely recommend a frozen margarita with your meal.

This place is always a great spot to pregame for a weekend game. As an example we came here before yesterday's Astros game - even though the stros lost 12-0 we still had a great time because of el tiempo
